effect of hyperglycemic condition on observed surface area to volume ratio of human cancerous cells
the human blood basal glucose level is a completely controlled range. information on the relationship between culture glucose concentration and changes in the cell's surface area, volume and surface area to volume (s/v) ratio are lacking. cancerous epithelial-like cell lines sw480, sw742 and t-47d were cultured in mediums nourished with 4.7 mm per liter of glucose as the control group and three...
متن کاملSurface-to-volume ratio with oscillating gradients.
Restrictions to diffusion result in the dispersion of the bulk diffusion coefficient. We derive the exact universal high-frequency behavior of the diffusion coefficient in terms of the surface-to-volume ratio of the restrictions. This frequency dependence can be applied to quantify structure of complex samples with NMR using oscillating field gradients and static-gradient CPMG. We also demonstr...
متن کاملSimulation Study: The Role of Area to Volume Ratio and Key Parameters in Cylindrical Micro Combustors
Abstract A new micro combustion concept is described in this work by introducing a new terminology in the micro combustion. The effects of Area to Volume Ratio (AVR) of the micro-combustors were studied to find the best performance of designed micro-combustors. In order to test the feasibility of the designed micro combustors before the actual experiment is conducted, simulation work was perf...
متن کاملSurface/Volume ratio: implications for phytoplankton morphology.
Plankton autotrophs vary greatly in size and shape. Computation of surface/volume ratios for biomass units of 27 coexisting phytoplankton species in a tropical lake indicates that these ratios are conserved within a range much narrower than expected by random choice of shapes. Conservation of surface/volume ratios suggests new explanations for the shapes of phytoplankton biomass units.
متن کاملThe important of surface area/volume ratio to the rate of oxygen uptake by red cells
Dear Sir: Holland and Forster (1966) demonstrated experimentally that velocity constants for initial rates of oxygen uptake by fully reduced erythrocytes (k~) are inversely related to mean corpuscular volume (MCV) (Table I). They based k" upon measurements of the rate of hemoglobin saturation with oxygen, so that the entire process included oxygen diffusion through the cell membrane, diffusion ...
